Job Description

This is a very exciting time in Ashburton with one of the area's largest concrete companies currently looking for a skilled Steel Fixer. When a company has been around for over 80 odd years, you know that they must be popular and their work never runs out, so we are looking for someone who wants to join them and stay for the long term.

About the Role

You'll perform all aspects related to steel fixing such as fixing steel bars and mesh to solid concrete bases, using hand and power tools to cut and bend steel bars and mesh, and using rebar to build casts that will keep setting concrete in place. You'll also prepare concrete, mix sand, cement, and water, and pour concrete into prepared casts as required.

  • Read and interpret building and engineering plans and drawings
  • Lay out steel bars, mesh, rods, and framework
  • Join rebar, footings, and girders by welding or with clips/wires

About You

You have Steel Fixing/Tying experience and can read drawings. With great communication skills and an excellent work ethic, you're an awesome team player, who's capable of working independently when required. You're punctual and reliable - you turn up for work on time, every time.

  • Current driver's licence and reliable transport
  • Steel Fixing/Tying experience preferred
  • Able to pass a drug test
