Job Description

We are hiring a welder for a locally owned and operated company that offers a full range of residential and commercial steel fabrication services.

Please note: To apply for this position, you must be residing in New Zealand and be a permanent resident or have a relevant working visa.

About Our Client

Our client does everything from manufacturing to on-site project management and installation. They have a relaxed but professional culture and emphasise high-quality products and services.

They understand that the people within a business ensure its success - that's why they invest time and money into developing employees' skills. They work hard during the week and get together on Fridays at the end of shifts.

About the Role

You'll be assisting in engineering structural steelwork and fabrication of architectural metalwork using a range of welding techniques.

After reading the drawings and specifications, you'll select the appropriate steel stock, cut, shape, and join the sections. You'll examine the quality of the welds and finish the product by filing, chiselling, and grinding. Other duties will include straightening fabricated items after welding distortion.

About You

Ideally, you're experienced in FCAW and various other welding techniques. You apply your understanding of government standards, specifications and processes to all projects to ensure quality. You demonstrate excellent attention to detail and accuracy with measurements at all times.

You're the sort of person who takes workplace health and safety seriously and you use initiative and think strategically. You show a positive approach to change and support the team you work with, and your organisational and time management skills are second to none - you work well under pressure.

Key Requirements
  • You hold the appropriate welding tickets
  • Clean driver's licence
  • A competent welder with proven experience

What's On Offer
  • 40 hour weeks
  • $25-$35/hour start rate, depending on your experience and skills
  • Ongoing development programmes
  • End-of-the-week get-togethers and a fun and friendly crew to work with
  • A permanent role is on offer for the right person
